La Coka Nostra, B-Real & Sick Jacken Say Fuck Tony Montana - June 29, 2006 By : SGV

La Coka Nostra is a movement which brings together some or all of the members of groups House Of Pain, Lordz Of Brooklyn and Non-Phixion. With Everlast leading the way with Ill Bill, this Supergroup of white Rappers/Producers will soon be blazing the industry with the rugged bully-foot Hip Hop music, as each member always has. Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal dropped their debut in 1992 on Tommy Boy Records, which featured their biggest Hit, the DJ Muggs produced "Jump Around."
In 1996 they went their seperate ways, Everlast found success as a Solo artist, DJ Lethal joined Rap/Rockers Limp Bizkit. Nearly ten years later, the trio join up again, but this time with their good friend Kaves of Lordz of Brooklyn, Ill Bill of Non-Phixion and a host of others to form La Coka Nostra.
As you could expect, the production on the La Coka Nostra project is going to be dark and sinister. Enlisting not only group members like DJ Lethal and Ill Bill, but extended family Q-Unique, Cynic of Street Platoon/Sick Symphonies and Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm/Sick Symphonies. The latter of the five, Jacken, also finds his way onto the mic, with B-Real, Everlast and Ill Bill on the hard hitting "Fuck Tony Montana." Everlast vehemently spits out lyrics like:
"Drugs, Money And Sex, Revolution Is Next, This Ain't Strong Armed Robbery, We Got A Small Armory, Fuck Cracks And Glocks, We Shootin' Back At The Cops, Deep Under Cover Like We Runnin' Black OPs"
If you dig that, believe it only gets better. Check that out below:
La Coka Nostra feat. B-Real & Sick Jacken - Fuck Tony Montana
We also have a song from La Coka member Big Left. The Queens Born, Bronx native of Italian descent spews out flame for all his "Drug Smugglers, Gun Busters, Fed Duckers" over ominous keys. Check out "Head Nod Shit" below:

G. Malone upgrades his breakthrough anthem "200" and now adds 100 Eses, to show love to all those that have supported him, creating the street banger of the year "300". Yung Walt & Dubcnn Present: "The Presentation" Mixtape D/L - June 27, 2006 By : Rud

April 2006 was the first time that dubcnn readers we're exposed to a talented youngster by the name of Yung Walt, the Inglewood High graduate who swiftly opted for a career in music. Initial criticism by those close to him of that decision soon turned to delight as Yung Walt hopped on a hit single with Snoop Dogg for the "Welcome To Tha Church Tha Album" ["Shake Dat Sh-t"] a cut he wrote lyrics and performed the hook for.
Since then he was been busy working with various producers such as; Battlecat, Terrace Martin, 1500 and Chordz.
He released the solo album which we showcased music from called "Hustle 2 Struggle" under the independent label "Ghetto Child ENT" run by himself and partners Bubba and Mac Jackson - successfully selling over 3,000 units in L.A.
Over the past few months he has been working on a new mixtape to showcase his latest material to the world aptly titled; "The Presentation" [Hosted by: DJ Qwess] - where better he thought than to allow dubcnn.com to "Present" the mixtape to world as a Free download! We took some time with Yung Walt to find out what he thought of the mixtape: "I feel this mixtape is more like an album just because of the topics I'm on yet although im still lyrically going bananas - I'm just warming up!
He went on to explain how he feels about his position right now; "I feel i am the underground King of L.A. yet still I'm not the only one...we're all Kings its just I'm working to be one of the most mentioned."
When asked what he feels is the track on the mixtape that he enjoyed making and has become a favourite he told dubcnn: "My favorite song is 'Write My Wrongs' where I get political over the Lupe Fiasco 'Kick Push' track." - dont take his word for it, sample that and other tracks in the tracklist and look further down for the exclusive full mixtape download courtesy of Yung Walt and dubcnn.com. This is one not to be missed, shouts to Yung Walt & Ghetto Child ENT.
01) The Presentation 02) Paperback 03) Gettn Sum Head 04) Its Goin Down 05) Keep On Pushin 06) Diamonds On My Neck 07) Brim Low 08) Write My Wrongs 09) 3 For 1 10) And They Say 11) Chirp Back 12) Freak Hoes 13) Feel It In The Air 14) Tell The World 15) Money On Mind 16) Hustla Musik 17) Cum A Lil Bit Closer 18) Let Me Take You 19) Presented

Ghostface Killah "Fishscale" Album Review - June 19, 2006 By : Rud

The full review can be found by following the link below to our Review Section however the "Dub Quotable" for this release states;
"Fortunately, this [fishscale] isn’t the type of fishscale that will make your teeth and throat numb, but it will have you up for nights on end buggin’ out about the overall quality while you take it through the ears instead of up the nose"

He's currently been working heavily with Long Beach's original Chucc Taylor, aswell as Young Zeek. He's also completing a duo album with Bokie Loc, who Eastsidaz fans will be familiar with, called "Kinfolk". I'm going to have a separate update on that project in the coming weeks.

Ice Cube First Week Sales + New Video Coming Soon - June 13, 2006 By : Nima

Ice Cube is still laughin'! His latest independent release "Laugh Now, Cry Later", which came out last tuesday, moved 150,000 units the first week, coming in at Nr. 3 on the Billboard charts. Those are great numbers for an independent release that didn't have major backing, and they show the pull that Cube still has in the rap game.
He also recently wrapped up the second video of the album, "Go To Church", featuring Snoop Dogg & Lil Jon. The song is a certified banger, and is sure to get the clubs shaking! We'll be back with the video as soon as we get it.
Incase you've been sleeping and haven't picked up your copy of "Laugh Now, Cry Later" yet, what are you waiting for? Cube put together a raw rap album, which is hard to find these days, so get on your way to the record store and support it!Discuss This Topic

Dubcnn Throwback Joint: "The Rain" by Peeps & King Lou - June 9, 2006 By : Lil Jay

For this week's Dubcnn Throwback Joint edition we got female rapper Peeps who put it down for the West Coast a couple years back on her album "Whichwayzup", released in 2000. Peeps was backed by West Coast veteran Battlecat, as he was responsible for the majority of the album's production. Her debut was anticipated ever since she appeared on MC Ren's 1998 album "Ruthless For Life" on the song "Pimpin' Is Free".
Who knows what the lady is up to nowadays, but she definitely had some talent and that's why we decided to feature her this week. Another good reason to highlight this track is the guest artist, which is the late great King Lou (R.I.P). Our lost angel contributed a dope verse which meshed perfectly with Peeps who did her thing on it. The song we got is called "The Rain" and it was produced by Battlecat. This is one of those feel good joints that you gotta love, especially in the summertime.
Join us on this weeks throwback ride and check out this very slept-on song "The Rain" from her album "Whichwayzup".

Latinos And Latinas Are In A United State - June 9, 2006 By : SGV

"So they wanna run us out the United States?? Now they have us all in a United State!!!!"
Up and coming Latinos and Latinas from the Los Angeles area have banded together to create a United State. The outcome of this unity is "Dear Mr. President," which was inspired by their opinions and support for the immigrants in the U.S. who are under heavy scrutiny at the moment. Put together by Most High Records, the track features their arsenal of emcees Caliber, Feddie and Talk Sick and their producers Boney Bones and M1, who provide the beat. Also riding with Most High is the illest Free-Agent in the game, O.Brown (whom we have a nice feature on coming soon), Kayozz of Suspects, Tapiseo of Los Tumbados, Lil Sic and Left of NTS. The hook was provided by the lovely and talented LaLa (You may have heard her get much props from Julio G, as well as heard her tracks on KDay or Power. Look for her project coming soon, she's already worked with Mack 10 and is working with Dr. Dre).
Caliber explains: "This track is dedicated to all of those in this struggle, regarding the whole immigration situation. Hip Hop is all one love, but right now, all my Latinos and Latinas, stand up and throw your flags up!!!"
We have this for free download courtesy of Caliber and Most High Records. But you'll also be able to hear this on Caliber's upcoming album, Enter My City. The CD will feature AllfrumthaI, Dutch of NTS and Stico out of the I.E. Head on over to Most High's Myspace page for more info on Caliber, Most High Records and the rest of the artists on this track. Capital Prophet Records Gets "Rebellyus" - June 8, 2006 By : Adon

Sometimes it takes one individual to rise up, to be the voice, to speak the truth with no restriction. When that individual speaks, people listen, and a revolution can begin. Belly (aka Rebellyus) is bringing “The Revolution” this summer through major independent label Capital Prophet Records.
Born April 7, 1984 in the Middle East, Belly grew up surrounded by war, violence, and atrocities no child should ever have to see. When he moved to Canada with his family, Belly saw the money and wealth that was only a dream in his birthplace. Turning to the streets at a very young age made Belly strong and resilient but he needed an outlet to release the aggressions building up within him. It was rap music that would serve as this outlet.
Belly began recording professionally in 2001. He recorded demos in Chicago and LA. Unfortunately, problems with the law led to the closure of the label and the incarceration of key figures within the label. But this didn't discourage Belly, he kept writing, and kept grinding. He released a number of mixtapes and slowly built a buzz in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada.
In 2005 he penned “Be Easy” and “Smile For Me” for label mate, Massari. Both these songs appeared on Massari's debut album and became top 10 hits in Canada.
With the taste of success, he began writing and recording his own material for “The Revolution”. The double CD is set for international release this summer. Features on the album include Fabolous, Scarface, & Mario Winans.
Capital Prophet, along with Belly, are raising the bar in Canadian urban music.
We have 3 songs to download below: Belly "Let Me Live" Belly feat. Scarface "I Swear" Belly "Let Me Put You On"
Make sure to check out Belly's offical page to get more info on mixtapes, and see an exclusive video with Scarface.Discuss This Topic
